Road Trip! Day Two

After crashing at the hotel, getting a shower, eating some terrible waffles, and playing with my new iTouch, we took a late start back on the road Sunday morning.  The map below shows our Day Two progress!

More details after the JUMP.

Since we were virtually following the Appalachian Mountains, the first thought was to find a scenic parkway.  So we went to Skyline Drive....

And were thwarted by closed roads!  Dratted land of no plows....  It wasn't even that bad.  Oh well, back onto Rt. 81 we went, and saw some gorgeous American scenery.  Redneck reputation aside, Virginia is a beautiful state.

We also tried to get onto the Blue Ridge Parkeway...

Which was also closed!!!

But we made the best of it and ate lunch by the side of the road....

And enjoyed the amazing vista, sans traffic.

Jeff made good on his promise to play in the snow as well.  This cracks me up.
How many people can say they did this on the Blue Ridge Parkway??  :)

When we finally got to Charlotte, we were beat.  We drove into some amazingly warm weather.  The mountains were snowy as shown, but the city was a balmy 65 degrees.  We unpacked the car and enjoyed my sole blue moon on my balcony.  I showered, Jeff played with my iThing, and as I was unpacking my food in a slightly OCD way I found a treasure I'd forgotten:  my RISOTTO!  Jeff helped get it started.

Later we caught the olympics and a power plant tank inspection (I had to inform Jeff that his tank didn't pass).  Many thanks to Jeff for taking the long trip!  It is SO WONDERFUL to have my car.  And my squishy elephant.  And chairs!  Not to mention half my DVD collection.  Now to find what that annoying squeak is under my front right wheel....
