A spur of the moment decision led Jeff and I to our nation's capitol this Easter weekend, and it was full of surprises. Jeff thought it would be stuffy and boring. I thought it would be too big to walk. It was neither, and we had an awesome time. I flew into BWI and Jeff picked me up in his Subaru, taking the excuse to visit his best friend on the way. The first hotel was $52 (this is a game Jeff plays) on Priceline. The next night was $50! The third night was a tough $65, but still far better than the AAA rate of $120/night. Cha-Ching.
Our itinerary was as follows:
Friday - National Museum of American History followed by a brief stint in the National Museum of Natural History, dinner
Saturday - The National Air and Space Museum, followed by Capitol Building, the Library of Congress, the Washington Monument, the war memorials and Abe Lincoln
Sunday - The Washington Monument and Abe again with new camera batteries, the war memorials (they're better in twilight), the National Sculpture Garden (meh), the Hirshhorn Sculpture Garden (nice!) and the National Botanical Garden
We were very tired. We took more and more breaks as the weekend went on. But it was a great time! We need to go back, but in cooler weather. We both got sunburns and we were both hot and sticky that last day. I can't imagine it in August.
So enjoy these pics of our travels! Can't wait to do it again...as soon as my feet recover. :)

Doggone, I'm usually so good at puns. Hmmm...neither of you is Canadian???... Eh... "Easter Holiday?" I especially love Jen leaning on the Washington Monument! That's truly inspired!
