Vacation Vacation

Yes, I know, I haven't updated.  I went on vacation and I haven't updated.  I gotta tell ya, I haven't been super excited about the blogging my life thing over the past few weeks.  But you figured that out already!

So here's the short version of my totally awesome vacation:

Part 1:  Spent 2 days with my Great Uncle Dick and his wife, Miriam.  He was great, she was great, they showered me with kindness and generosity, and I left completely enamored with their elegance and grace.  We'd never really met before.  I'd seen them at a recent wedding for about 2 minutes, but that was it.  It was an amazing visit and I look forward to seeing them again.

Here's the ALBUM.

Part 2:  Spent a day and a half in the Everglades with Jeff!  The birds were very comfortable with humans photographing them, as you'll see in the pics.  There's only one road through the everglades, and we went all the way to the end, where Jeff discovered a campground he wished he'd known about earlier.  Highlights include gators, egrets, a super-cool tourist who let me drive his $1700 lens, and a gorgeous sunset.

Here's the ALBUM.

Part 3:  Spent a day driving to Key West!  Like everything in southern Florida, there's only one road to get there.  We discovered a few great side-of-the-road attractions, including a bird sanctuary, a giant lobster, a pottery shop, and a diving bell.  Key West is definitely worth a second look, what with the street performers, the daily sunset festival, and the margaritas we didn't get...but Jeff's not a partier and it was a 2-hour drive home, so we headed back late that night.  The quiet of the Everglades was more our style the next day before walking the beach in Fort Lauderdale.

Here's the ALBUM.

It was a great trip and worth a repeat.  Exactly what I needed.  :)
